I just felt like... 2022 in Review

Image
- The one where I where I recap 2022 -  2022 has me (and many others) back to where we started.  It's winter and we just aren't putting in the effort like we have all year, it's a nice break.   The difference for me this year is that I had a slightly longer break than I wanted and it's given me time to reflect and make some changes.   Nothing major, nothing serious, yet things are evolving.  Coming up on 2 years alcohol free this is expected. I will still be out there running the best that I can, my updates will still be on Strava and I still hope to get the opportunity to be an Ambassador again at the many area races!  That is my passion and to be a part of the running community.   Not as The Bearded Runner.... but as Scott. 2022 Stats Bodies Race Company - Ambassador (6 years) Liberty Hospital Half - 5th Year Ambassador Kansas City Marathon - 5th Year Ambassador Des Moines Marathon - 2nd Year Ambassador Eldon Rock Island - 2nd Year Ambassador Frog Hill  Half 5k/1

I just felt like... an 'Easy Run'

Image
  - The one about "Easy Runs"  and how important they are  - A ...    B earded  R unner  AD venture    -  if you will -      lovingly called a " BR.AD " - This is why I train, it's not for the 'Races' but it's to make the easy days easier -  If there was one thing that I really didn't like when I was injured, it was being unable to do an "Easy Run".   Those are the ones that are SO Much more important than just putting in the miles.   Make them  AD ventures as often as possible.   It's a great motivator and what I like to call it #RunTherapy, find somewhere new, run with a friend... Heck - RUN WITH ME !!    ----- > Plan it, Do it and have fun! I was recently on a podcast - The host is a 5k runner and his final question was; "What are a couple of tips that you could give ... of ways I could get the most out of my body and my mind when I stretch this thing out from a 3 miler to 13 milers" - Me "Slow Progression, Enj

I just felt like... 20 Miles at Mile 0

Image
- The one where I ran 20 Miles at the inaugural Mile 0  Flint Hills Trail Race - A ...    B earded  R unner  AD venture    -  if you will -      lovingly called a " BR.AD " That was a long journey that went by way too quick!   Plans started for this back on November 12th - just 6 days after I finished my target Half Marathon. Jennie invited me to Mile 0, how could I say no?    I needed something for the next training session with Run Coach Nick (PR Project) and even though we discussed doing the 50k, we opted for the 20-mile.  Little did I know that just a few weeks in to training, my Left Hamstring would 'POP' causing severe pain.  From Dec 8th through Dec 20st I "Rested" (just a few easy runs)  with hopes it would heal on its own like it did last time back on Aug 28th just before the finish line at RTP ... Nope, on Dec 21st the Hamstring 'Popped' again, not once but twice in one run :(  Due to these injuries, I had to put my run plans on hold, paus

I just felt like... training for LHH

Image
  - The one where I ran around started training for LHH - A ...    B earded  R unner  AD venture    -  if you will -      lovingly called a " BR.AD " Well, today was the day...  the day I have have been working for and believe I am ready for. "Training" started back up!   After (basically) taking 2 months off to rehabilitate my left hamstring and work on a new, improved overall training plan, today was the day.    Why not make it an  AD venture, one that takes me around Liberty Hospital Half? I mean... that's what I am training for, right?    Real quick...    If you have not signed up yet, you should!    It's in my home town for 18 years and I love running the streets, I have ran all of them :)    On to the run...  But first, YOGA !   or what I call yoga.   It's a ~25 minute routine that Kaitlin helped me put together that is strengthening ALL the running things in my body and will prevent further injuries.   I am finally a HUGE believer in doing this b
